Julia Parsons will be giving a presentation about her experiences working as a codebreaker during the Second World War. Parsons served in the US Navy's WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service), the women's branch of the United States Naval Reserve. Having studied German in high school, Parsons received cryptology training and was selected to work in the SHARK division at the Naval Communications Annex, helping to decode North Atlantic U-Boat transmissions.
