Moshe Rubin

Country:
Israel
Bio:

Moshe Rubin is a software engineer residing in Jerusalem, Israel. Starting off in ham radio, his interest in cryptology and cryptanalysis began at age 15 after reading David Kahn’s classic "The Codebreakers". He joined the American Cryptogram Association in 1975, became a charter member of Cryptologia in 1977. His achievements include tracking down and publishing, in 2010, the first description of the Chaocipher algorithm, a cipher method that had been secret for decades. He is partial to both the "in the trenches" work of cryptanalysis of classical cryptographic systems and to the historical lore of the subject. He has also written extensive cryptanalytic software programs to analyze cipher systems (mainly in C++, Perl, and Python).
